NEWS OF THE MOMENT
2/8/10 - Yesterday I saw my "little" brother (I'm a "Big Brother") and we went bowling. Between all his distractions (he's just 8), I bowled my best ever (and I'm not a bowler) - 210 - a miracle! Reminds me of how much we "get" when we give - so I thought I'd give you the link to my "Lessons of a Big Brother and Mentor" column. My new, edgier and more provocative "Just A Guy" is up today - the direction change per the editors of momlogic, though I had been mixing "sappy" and "edgy." What do you think and please comment right on the blog as they and I like comments. I'm getting excited and nervous about my forthcoming radio show demo. I so hope I pull it off, but nothing ventured, nothing gained so I'm not going to succumb to the pressure! The Epoch Times is an international paper that carries "A Dad's Point-of-View" - are we global or what!? - this is their latest column of mine. Went to see the movie, "It's Complicated," with my wife and it inspired my current column. Aren't marriage and life often complicated? Here's a link to it on a site in India that occasionally carries my writing, called "Save Indian Family.org." My facebook page, "A Dad's Point-of-View", is steadily growing. We surpassed 1,000 members this weekend and the discussions continue to be so interesting! Here is the link to "the discussions." I've given in and am now "tweeting" away - please follow me at Twitter. There is so much to learn about all this "social media" - what happened to just talking on the phone, having coffee, or lunch with your friends? In light of Haiti and so many recent world events, I believe a recent column of mine is one that is important and relevant to our parental worries, as it is about the world our children are inheriting from us. I maintain it's a much harder, harsher, and scarier world. Here's a link to it, or you can find it here in "My Columns." As I've mentioned before, feel free to post a comment or start a dialogue here on my Web site with Join The Conversation. Express whatever is on your mind that my site, blogs or columns inspire. Also, I welcome column suggestion ideas.

Becoming a writer and a columnist was always the direction I expected to follow, as I worked with writers constantly in my first career as a television executive and producer (see my credits and resume). But in those days, I never actually set pen to paper -- or fingers to keyboard.
“A Dad’s Point-of-View” began about four years ago, when I was hired as a columnist for a local paper. At the end of 2008, I began my self-syndicating efforts to expand by sending out literally thousands of emails. The response was overwhelming as my column now appears in over 75 newspapers and Web sites here in the U.S. and internationally. There are sites carrying my column in the U.K., India, Canada, Mexico, Japan and Australia, and Israel. In addition, I'm one of the few male bloggers hired to write an exclusive blog for momlogic.com. It is called “Just A Guy.” I’ve also appeared on webcasts and radio talk shows in recent months.
The subjects I cover include parenting, raising boys, dating as a single parent, internet dating advice, marriage advice, blending families and dealing with step-parenting, all the ups and downs of separation and divorce, as well as the general parenting perspective from a man’s point-of-view which, I fervently assert, is different from a woman’s!
I have a "fan page" on Facebook and would love you to join and participate.
