The “A Dad’s Point-of-View” Facebook Welcome Page
Do Facebook Pages work? I mean do they get you and/or your business action? This is a debate between everyone in Social Media as more and more SoMe sites and platforms emerge. I find the new options (e.g. Google +, Pineterest, StumbleUpon, etc.) sometimes overwhelming? Do I really have to learn another one?
I’m a bit old-fashioned in the Homeroom way. By that I mean, back in the day when we had “Homeroom” (do they have them anymore?), I had a designated seat. That was MY SEAT. Knowing MY SEAT was mine and there waiting for me was comforting. I feel the same about my website (though it is being completely re-vamped and will re-launch next weekend…a preview of its new look is in the photo above), my Facebook profile and Page, and my Twitter use, and limited LinkedIn participation.
Enough!
I do believe Facebook Pages work. With mine, I crafted a very specific strategy which I detailed in a guest post at DIYBlogger.net called, The Secret Sauce to Making Your Facebook Page Mmmm Mmmm Good.
Yes, Facebook Pages “work,” but like everything else it takes work, creativity, and persistence. My Page has over 4,200 “likes” (I hated when they were called Fan Pages and don’t much like “like” either…maybe “members?”) from literally ALL over the world.
Below are some of the “insights” about who does “like” the page:
Note that it says 45% Female and 50% Male. Where are the other 5%? Are they hermaphrodites? Also notes the incredible diversity of countries and cities represented. At one point, Mumbai was the #1 city. Go figure?
So, I believe Facebook Pages are like any other marketing tool. Use it well, it will serve you well. Hope it just happens and you’ll have “Hope and Change” and not much in the way of results.
It’s worked beautifully for me. It’s been fun. A little work. AND, I’ve met great people all over the world. Now, it’s your turn!
