Okay, I admit it. I don’t get rap and barely “get” #hiphop music. BUT, our special co-host – Jerry Doby of The Hype Magazine this week – Thursday, July 18 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET – not only GETS it, but works in the field, is a dad of ten (yes TEN), and has impeccable credentials to help guide this white dude through the ins and outs of the music that most of our kids and MY kids listen to! We will likely have some cool giveaways for this #DadChat so don’t miss it! Follow Jerry Doby and TheHypeMagazine on Twitter!
My son made this Father’s Day song for me – a #Rap song – and he even says that he knows it’s not my thing! But, it’s still mighty cool!
The Hype Magazine has interviewed Chuck D of Public Enemy; R&B legend Karyn White; Jeffrey Osborne; Grammy Award winner Whitney Peyton; Super Producer Teddy Riley, etc. Hype is a national digital magazine with 11 years in business and will debut nationally on newsstands November 1st, 2013.
Jerry Doby is the Executive Editor of The Hype Magazine and his full bio is below with a link to various URLs of his. He also wrote a very cool story about my son’s jam with the great Chris Cornell in Urban Link.

Key to his music media experience, Jerry is Managing Partner of SwurvRadio.com, PR Director for Joint One Radio (Tokyo, Japan) and has worked as a freelance publicist for more than 10 years, specializing in the urban entertainment market.
This experience gives Jerry a unique credibility as a journalist and as a trusted media personality for both major and independent artists, labels and producers. He has daily engagement with celebrities of various career levels, nationalities and geographical locations making him globally in touch with urban music news.

Spreading his wings outside of the music realm in 2001, Jerry produced a National Basketball Celebrity League international tour to Korea in support of U.S. military personnel and as part of the 60th Anniversary of the USO. This tour included 30 celebrity basketball players including: NBA star Cherokee Parks (LA Clippers at that time); Film stars Jessica Biel, Lorenz Tate, Dule Hill and Hip Hop legend Coolio.
A prior service veteran, Doby counts the NBAEL tour of US military bases in Korea to be one of the absolute highlights of his career. During his 13+ year military career, he had been the beneficiary of USO shows and jumped at the chance to create a tour for his comrades in harm’s way.
