Morning After Pill Ruling BS

I was asked by HuffPostLive to make a video comment for a segment they were preparing about the Morning After PIll and an activist judge’s ruling. This is what I said. I believe EVERY word in this short rant. I believe it’s ABSURD that a judge can legislate. I believe that a child THAT YOUNG should NOT have access to any sort of prescription meds. Kids need to be 16 to drive, 18 to smoke or enlist, and 21 to drink, but it’s OKAY that they can get birth control – after the fact , the morning after pill- at ANY AGE? C’mon, even you lefties have to see the craziness of this? Are we becoming like a totalitarian regime where The State parents OUR kids? This is yet another case of Political Correctness gone MAD!

Note: The “BS” in the title is simply my initials…

Les Miserables – Puttin’ On a Show

Dad gets nervous about Son acting in a school play - Les MiserablesDad is all flustered when Son has a major role in the school play – Les Miserables. As you all know – of course – I just write these comic strips and they’re NOT based at all on my family life. However, if you’re interested, my son’s school Play Group just happens to be doing Les Miz this weekend and my son just happens to be playing Marius. What a coincidence!

Syndication rights to the Because I Said So comic strips are now available. Contact me for more information on carrying this truly contemporary and original comic strip!

Anything Goes at #DadChat

This Thursday, April 11, we will have an Anything Goes #DadChat. What does that mean? Simply, the topics we’ll cover can cover “Anything!” Of course, we always keep #DadChat no more risque than PG-13, but that still allows for discussion on most any topic that YOU want to chat about. #DadChat has evolved into an incredible 24/7 community and moved beyond only parent-centric topics, though that is still our emphasis. So, much as my friend @MackCollier does once-a-month at his #blogchat with “Open Mic,” we’re going to do the same this Thursday. Bring it! Seriously, share something where you want some advice or feedback? Share a great joke? A video?

Why Our Kids Should Go For It

Magic happens when you take risks

Yes, we should encourage our kids to Go For It. Of course I don’t mean foolish or dangerous things, but those that will help them succeed in life. In our contemporary world, it’s the risk-takers who will succeed. Too many kids feel entitled, have been pampered or helicoptered, and the idea of taking a chance and going for it is completely foreign to them. Thomas Edison is a perfect example of a man who didn’t allow failures to deter his determination.

Social Media Social Good: comment Comment COMMENT

Blog commenting

I’ve been a comment evangelist for a long time. I believe it is one of the best tools to advance your “influence” and presence online. Its rewards are many and it’s one of the easiest things to do. In my early days writing and blogging and learning Social Media, I developed a strategy of commenting that I believe served me well. Social Media is to a large degree – as I’ve chosen the name for this blog series – about Social Good, at least as I choose to view and use it. Commenting will help you achieve results in doing good, doing well, and doing better.

How Social Media is Changing Our Lives at #DadChat

Who doesn’t believe that Social Media is changing our lives? What parent isn’t struggling to keep up with their children when it comes to texting, using a smart-phone, and pretty much anything tech? How many parents just let this side of their children’s lives go on without much supervision? This topic is bigger than simply our kids since we all know how it’s affecting our lives as well. We have special co-host Jure Klepic to lead this discussion on Thursday, April 4 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. E.T.
