Surviving Marriage is our topic at this week’s #DadChat on Thursday, October 3 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET with my friends Jenny and Rufus Triplett as co-hosts. They have literally written the book on surviving marriage and you can win a copy of it (three chances!) at this week’s #DadChat. See the book image, below as well as their bio in a screenshot. What have YOU learned about marriage? What could you learn that might save a troubled marriage or that you can bring to a new one (or relationship)? Their book is an easy-to-read 13 steps guide and it is spot on!

Why I Dislike Hollywood
Whenever there’s a mass shooting, the mainstream media and different political factions always want to find someone to blame. The recent shootings at a naval base in D.C. promoted the usual declarations when it was pretty evident that the shooter was simply mentally unstable. So, instead of accusing our society of having a problem, why not just fix the issue of letting mentally unstable people not only have access to guns, but have unfettered freedom?
Kickstarter Gives
Kickstarter is a way that we can all participate in great Social Media projects or, for that matter, any worthwhile project. We have just launched our Kickstarter campaign to fund a coffee-table commemorative book featuring the history of our Because I Said So comic strip, the first 100 strips, and much more. My intention is to give 10% of any earnings to charity since I sincerely believe in Social Media = Social Good. I hope you’ll help support and promote our project. Check out all the cool reward levels – truly something for everyone! At the very least, enjoy the video!
Dad is Excited about HIS Kickstarter Book
The REAL Kickstarter book campaign has begun. Please visit our Kickstarter Page, watch the video, and choose your reward level to support our project! Dad simply loves all the attention!
Star Wars, Raiders, & John Williams
John Williams is a fixture at The Hollywood Bowl and in August of 2013 he performed yet again doing first a tribute to Henry Mancini, followed after intermission, by his “Greatest Hits” from Star Wars to Raiders. It was AWESOME!
Confronting Fear with @PeterShankman at #DadChat
No, that is NOT me in the above photo. I’m not THAT crazy! But, Peter Shankman evidently is. He is co-hosting #DadChat this Thursday, September 26 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. When we discussed what topic he’d like to do at #DadChat he said the following, “…the concept of people giving up what they love when they have a child if what they love happens to be dangerous. Skydiving makes me a better person, and why wouldn’t I want to be the best person I can be to my child? Let alone teaching my child to understand and embrace fear, to learn from it. But ask some people, and I’m the worst dad in the world because I still jump from planes after spawning a young’in.“ How we Confront Fear is our topic because Peter has more or less expressed that sky-diving is easy in comparison to raising kids!
Who doesn’t feel afraid about being a parent, about blowing it, saying or doing something that will damage them forever!? We’ll confront these fears with Peter, ask questions, share thoughts and stories, and otherwise become the better for it!
Staying Single is NOT Good for Your Kids
When I began dating again, after my divorce, I had certain desired requirements for any women I might date. They were simple – she had to be breathing. No, they weren’t that simple because my life at the time was far from simple. Raising two traumatized young boys alone meant, or so I thought, that I should only date women who also were single parents. I had my boys almost 24/7 in the beginning and later 24/7 period, now for over a decade.
Because I Said So Kickstarter Comic and Number 100
See our Kickstarter Campaign and BE AT PART of i!
Our 100th Because I Said So comic strip does what many say you’re not supposed to do – we “break the wall” of the comic’s illusion and rules. Dad speaks with our artist Michael Voogd about our forthcoming Kickstarter comic book campaign for a book commemorating the first 100 Because I Said So comic strips. I think it’s a wonderful way to celebrate this milestone and I hope you agree?
