Every parent wants to be the “cool” parent – that dad or mom that all the other kids love and want to hang out with. I’m that dad: at least in my mind. The reality is I’m still my kids’ “Old Man” and the sooner I recognize that the better. This experience was driven home recently when I went with my boys, and my son’s girlfriend, to The Outside Music Festival in San Francisco.
As Dad and Son head to Broadway, we publish our 96th Because I Said So comic strip. We are approaching our 100th comic strip and we will soon release our Kickstarter Book Campaign for a commemorative book celebrating that milestone and including all 100 comic strips, a history of its development, and a step-by-step how-to guide from VoogDesigns on how he illustrates these strips so marvelously! Number 96 is about a visit to New York where Dad is reminiscing while Son is just LOVING IT!

It will soon reach its centennial, with 100 original comic strips written by Bruce Sallan and beautifully illustrated by Michael Voogd (VoogDesigns). YOU can participate in our production of a beautiful hard-cover coffee table book that includes all 100 comic strips, the evolution and history of the strip, and a step-by-step illustrated guide to the making of the comic strip. The Outside Lands Music Festival this year was simply fantastic. I took hours of video and you can pretty much get a complete feel for the event in this short 11 minute 45 second compilation of clips, people, and more. I kept all the music clips to well under the “fair use” limit so it’s pretty fast paced and, hopefully, YouTube will LEAVE ME ALONE since I was fully legal as far as I understand. You will see clips of the best concert of the festival – Paul McCartney – as well as others of Surfer Blood, Band of Horses, The National, Gary Carter, Jr., Young the Giant, Jurassic 5, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Head and the Heart, Phoenix, Hall & Oates, Vampire Weekend, Willie Nelson, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Paul McCartney, at 71, put on a flawless nearly 3-hour show on August 9, 2013 at The Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco. This is just 3 minutes of clips – and EACH clip that has music is shorter than 15 seconds so YouTube – LISTEN TO ME – don’t hassle me about the rights!
