Writing about going without technology is nothing original, for sure, and I’m not going to re-invent the wheel with this column. However, I am going to share my recent experience going without my iPhone for 38 days. The caveat is that I did have use of my phone for calls on a very limited basis and did receive and make about a dozen in the course of those 38 days.

I try to do videos that are not boring travelogues. That usually means PEOPLE. This is a prime example of how the very simple – video taken in one position on a ferry in Kenya – can convey the feeling of the place. In this case, a ferry from Mombasa to the mainland..
Zanzibar is a pretty bleak place. Frankly, it’s depressing. But, we did have a light time at Jozani Forest when we encountered these monkeys and their “monkey business” – be sure to see the surprise ending!
It’s a New Year. What’s on YOUR mind? What are your hopes, wishes, fears? What do you want for yourself, for your family, for the world? I just returned from a wonderful but sobering trip to Africa and India and I’ve been reflecting a lot about the world, my place in it, and my hopes and dreams for my boys.
