Graduation

Because I Said So Graduation

It’s that time of season where our kids are celebrating graduation…from elementary school on to college. “Dad” did not use the amazing Jodi Okun (College Financial Aid Advisors) for advice on how to prepare, best practices for applying, and the smartest and diverse ways in which parents and potential students can get scholarships and/or financial aid. That is why “Dad” is sobbing.

Syndication rights to the Because I Said So comic strips are now available. Contact me for more information on carrying this truly NEW comic strip!

So MUCH!

What’s New? I sometimes hear that with my mother saying it with a comic twist. There’s so much going on that I don’t know where to begin. This week’s column – The Novel of Having Kids – is a new favorite of mine because I like the analogy and haven’t seen it expressed this way before. Father’s Day was quite cool and I hope you appreciate the Because I Said So that VoogDesigns did for us. Are you Staying In the Loop? Have you signed up for my newsletter? Please do and ALL you will receive is a short weekly update on things happening in my Social Media world (so much!)- sign up on the Home Page. You will get NOTHING else but the newsletter. Finally, we have renowned pediatrician Dr. David Hill joining us Thursday for #DadChat. You can ask him ANY question and have three chances to win a copy of his new book!

We Asked Dr. Hill at #DadChat

#DadChat was honored to have renowned pediatrician Dr. David Hill – aka @DadsBook – on Thursday, June 21, from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT. The NBA Game stole some of our “Thunder,” so to speak, but we had an intimate chat nonetheless! Questions of all sorts were asked and three lucky people won copies of Dr. Hill’s new book, Dad to Dad: Parenting Like a Pro. Next week – June 28 – we #GetUnreal at #DadChat, with @TheGoToMom!

What’s your favorite novel? Do you like Grisham? Prefer historical fiction? Romance? Epics? I’ve loved a lot of the great epic novels such as Herman Wouk’s WWII books, The Winds of War and War and Remembrance. I also liked great historical fiction like James Clavell’s Asian Saga of King Rat, Tai-Pan, Shōgun, Noble House, Whirlwind, and Gai-Jin. What about the Fifty Shades of Grey? Is that your cup of tea? My favorite book of all-time is Pillars of the Earth, by Ken Follett. What are yours?

Do You Employ Effective Communication?

I’m old enough to remember using rotary phones, having a pen pal, and Black and White TV with no remote, or a remote that was wired and did almost nothing. My boys have grown up with computers, Facebook, music “sharing” first with Napster and then so many others, Twitter, and Social Media. How they communicate is so much different than when I was their age. How we all communicate now is so varied. Do you think you employ effective communication?
