Who hasn’t had THAT idea that they were sure would be a home-run? And, then you see it on TV in an infomercial and kick yourself saying, “I had THAT idea!” Well, ideas are a dime a dozen – getting them OUT THERE is the key. We have the author of The Mom Inventor’s Handbook – Tamara Morosoff – as our guest at #DadChat this Thursday, July 24 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET. She will teach us HOW to make it happen plus you can win copies of her books!

P&G –> WAKE UP
I’m sure you’ve all seen the P&G (Procter & Gamble) commercials in the Winter Olympics on NBC. “Proud Sponsor of Moms” with all these touching stories from Olympians telling how their moms were so wonderful and supportive. How lovely. I’m sure their dads had nothing to do with their support and those images of dads cheering at the Olympics are just a rare exception.
How Much is Two Billion?
In mid-2013, #DadChat surpassed one billion impressions. I wrote How Much is One Billion at the time so all the amazing facts about numbers are in that column. This time, I simply want to crow a bit about how the entire year turned out for #DadChat AND, what I believe to be the potential and pitfalls for Tweet Chats in the future.
First, the statistics for 2013:
Contributors: 7,956
Tweets: 77,113
Reach: 69.61 million
Impressions 1,883,330,000
Dad 2.0 Summit: The Value of IRL Conferences
Dove Men Care was the big sponsor and I got the best haircut in ages here!
I’m sitting in my hotel room at The Four Seasons in Houston after attending a three-day conference, the Dad 2.0 Summit 2013. It was their second year and it was a fantastic event on just about every measurement you can imagine. I attended the first one and that one was also terrific, but as with most things like this, they either grow and get better or wither away. Happily it was the former and this conference just took the best of the last one, added more, and probably has become the standard-bearer for Dad Social Media conferences hereafter.
A World Record at #DadChat
I find it so interesting that one of the most incredible forms of Social Media is just beginning to catch on. By that, I mean advertisers and marketers getting how valuable an active Tweet Chat can be! #DadChat is less than two years old but has a dedicated following of dads and moms that use our hashtag 24/7 and especially during our regular “time slot” on Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. PT, 7:00 p.m. MT, and 9:00 p.m. ET. We set a World Record, as far as I can verify, last week with 267,000,000 million Impressions over a 48-hour period, 95% of which took place during our designated one-hour “official” chat! That is NOT a typo. In no small part, this record was achieved by the efforts of co-host Adryenn Ashley (@Adryenn).
