I often say that “I don’t do politics,” though I’ve occasionally violated that assertion. I figure by touching politics I risk “losing” half my audience. I’d rather be myself and risk losing all my audience. But sometimes, it’s hard to avoid these taboo topics. We actually had a VERY civil discussion on politics at #DadChat recently.

#Halloween: Dad is Scared – BOO!
While we all know that “Dad” is NOT me, I actually did cry when I saw “Bambi.” I don’t get scared. This is the first Halloween when I won’t have a kid that is going trick-or-treating. One is away at college and the other, in high school, is going to a Halloween Party.
Roller-Blading in Venice, California
This past summer, on a whim, I went roller-blading in Venice, California. I know my new friend Shaun White would have preferred I skateboarded and maybe next time I will on one of his new boards! In the meantime, enjoy the sites and my commentary as I roll along…
#DadChat Took ON Racial #Stereotypes
#DadChat agains stepped into the tough topics on Thursday, October 25 at 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET by taking on Racial Stereotypes. We’ve done religion, politics, sex, and now perhaps one of the most difficult and volatile subjects. Thankfully, we had Rufus and Jenny Triplett aka @PrisonWorld to co-host and they brought tremendous credibility to this issue. Read the transcript. Why couldn’t our candidates have such a respectful dialogue?
What Happens When Dad Doesn’t Talk?
The other night, my wife and I watched “What to Expect When You’re Expecting,” a perfectly entertaining, somewhat ordinary movie, with a great cast having a great time. At one point, two characters faced off and argued over who was the alpha person in their relationship. It’s quite clear who is the alpha personality in our home, even though my wife thinks she runs the show. And, I have the bigger mouth.
The Evolution of Technology: #Watches
The Evolution of Technology blog series is written by Bruce Sallan and Professor David E. Weber
Our series continues with one of my favorite old tech devices: the watch. Yeah, a watch: analog and perhaps one you had to wind (do kids know what that means?). I had a love affair with watches when I was a kid so this will be a fun column to write!
