The other day I had a sobering conversation with a 21-year-old woman. We covered a lot of topics, and when I got to my inevitable probing questions about her personal life and asked if she ever wanted to get married, her answer was a quick and resounding, “No.” The ensuing short exchange sealed the deal for me of how far we’ve come – as far as societal values – in just my own lifetime!

Popularity in Life, #Love, and #SocialMedia at #DadChat
Who doesn’t have that horrid memory of high school or middle school when you were snubbed, ignored, or made fun of? Today, popularity is public. How many friends do you have on Facebook? How many views did your Vine or Instagram or YouTube post get? Our kids use #SocialMedia in ways that are good AND hurtful to themselves and others. And, it’s there forever. HOW do we all work with this today in Life, Love, and Social Media? THAT is our topic Thursday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET. We’ve special guest Nathan Engels, an expert on SEO joining us. AND, we are giving away THREE copies of his new book, How to Grow on Twitter for Bloggers!

Can a Banana be Politically Correct?
It’s time our Moral Question of the Week took on something hard! The other day my wife threw out, what appeared to me, perfectly good bananas. She said because they were covered with brown spots she believed that they were no longer good. She said doctors say there’s too much sugar in them at that point. I always thought that the slightly brown-patched bananas were actually better and tastier. What do you think?
#School, #Curriculum, #Kids, and How WE #Parents Fit at #DadChat
When I went to primary school way back in the B&W days of no remote control and transistor radios and rotary phones, my parents had little to do or worry about when I headed out the door. In fact, they had little to worry about after school as well because I rode my bike wherever I wanted as long as I got home before dark. Mom made sure I carried a dime “just in case” I needed to call home. It’s slightly different now!
#SocialMedia Social Good – Vitamin Angels
I recently had the privilege of attending the 20th Anniversary Celebration of the founding of Vitamin Angels. It was a gloriously fun event held at the beautiful Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, California.
The event was a gathering of sponsors, donors, and others who have supported and worked with/for Vitamin Angels over the years. It included a terrifically fun golf tournament, lovely swag gifts from the sponsors, and a beautiful outdoor dinner with entertainment and short powerful speeches, accompanied by compelling video.
#Kids and #Careers at #DadChat Thursday – PLUS #Giveaways
Did you know that a recent poll found that the majority of parents feared their kids would not do as well as they had? That is an amazing thing! And, I believe a FIRST in modern American history. What are our kid’s best career options? Should EVERY kid go to college? What affect will student loan debt have on our children? Is “trade” school a better option for some? What careers are offering great opportunities and which are declining? Let’s discuss this and more with an EXPERT – Mark S. Babbitt – in this field Thursday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET. Mark is generously giving away TWO copies of his book, co-written with Ted Coine, A World Gone Social.
#HeForShe, #Feminism, the #NFL, Emma Watson, Boys & Men, at #DadChat
Emma Watson gave a stirring speech at the UN recently (hear it above). She was as poised a young speaker as I’ve ever seen and spoke passionately about the need for gender equality, usually two words I tend to disdain. She made good points. Is the UN the right forum for ANY positive efforts? A good question, but OUR forum is certainly worthy of discussing the underlying issue. NOT about “gender equality” and girls/women, but about what is happening to our boys and men as a result of feminism, and where we parents must work to educate our girls and boys to be the BEST PEOPLE they can be – regardless of what is between their legs! Join us for this provocative dialogue Thursday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET.
