What Did You Do This Summer at #DadChat

The Beach Boys album cover for Summer Days

Remember when you’d return to school, after summer, and the teacher would ask, “What did you do this summer” and you had to get up in front of the class and answer? That is what we’re doing at #DadChat this Thursday, August 15 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET and I’M going to be the teacher — asking you what YOU did this past summer (and what your family did)!

I might have a couple small prizes this week, too – so be there to find out and perhaps win one!

Teen Love

Dear Parents - on Teens

Most of us have plenty of stories of our first love, teen love, and many love stories later on in life. Being the father of two teen boys, I’ve witnessed their social lives, lived a bit vicariously through them, and been reminded about how we all must find our own way. We all must learn our lessons. In the Mood

Hopefully YouTube will NOT bust me for this clip of what I think may be a public domain song and a CLASSIC – In the Mood. This was a surprise number at the “Dance Fever” concert at Frank Gehrey’s amazing Walt Disney Concert Hall in July, 2013. We had marvelous seats and it was a truly magical evening.

Men vs. Women: Clothes and Fashion

Bras through the ages

Fashion, clothes, jewelry, and all its related accessories and issues are enough of a subject to fill a book, not just a single column in this blog series. But, I will endeavor to condense the incredible volume of material to fewer than 1,000 words. Writing about Men and Women is a lot of fun, especially since I don’t care if I am politically correct. It’s ironic how upside down things have become in my lifetime when simple truths – in this case, related to men and women – are not so simple given various agendas and politics that seem to attach so much contemporary public discourse!

I Love Travel Except for the Travel Part

Graphic image of TSA search

The title of this column has been a favorite saying of mine for many years. It’s grown more relevant ever since 9/11 and our recent and ongoing economic woes. When I reference “Travel” I am mostly referring to air travel – flying, airplanes airports, and everything associated with that aspect of traveling. It’s become a complete and total pain, in my humble opinion.
