Video Games in Parenting with @ChrisBrogan at #DadChatWe read about it all the time – the effects of media on our kids – especially video games. I wrote about Hollywood’s destructive effects recently and Chris Brogan is going to take us through a discussion about Video Games in Parenting this Thursday, October 10 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. NOT TO BE MISSED! Staying Single is NOT Good for Your Kids, Part TwoWriters never know what is going to connect, resonate, please, and/or anger readers. Staying Single (Part One) achieved that. First, I want to declare the reason for the title since that is just one point of anger from my critics. I am a writer. I want readers. I choose titles that are honest to the content of my columns but I also choose ones I think will draw interest. I am no different than ANY television newscast, newspaper, book, or Hollywood. To be quite clear, I am NOT apologizing for my title choice. I do want to clarify things that were either assumed or misinterpreted as well as share some of the comment “highlights.” Evolution of Technology – TravelIn this edition of the Evolution of Technology blog series, which is co-written by Professor David E. Weber and myself, we take a look at Travel. How we book it, do it, and live it. Without a doubt, travel has undergone incredible changes since I went to Europe using Frommer’s “Europe on $5 and $10 a Day,” when I was 19. And, we did it, too. I’m going to take the first stab at this column, followed Professor David E. Weber who, as I am writing this, is traveling to and from England. DescentEnjoy this sort of stop–motion animation style view of my plane’s descent and finally landing at LAX… Surviving Marriage at #DadChatSurviving Marriage is our topic at this week’s #DadChat on Thursday, October 3 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET with my friends Jenny and Rufus Triplett as co-hosts. They have literally written the book on surviving marriage and you can win a copy of it (three chances!) at this week’s #DadChat. See the book image, below as well as their bio in a screenshot. What have YOU learned about marriage? What could you learn that might save a troubled marriage or that you can bring to a new one (or relationship)? Their book is an easy-to-read 13 steps guide and it is spot on! Why I Dislike HollywoodWhenever there’s a mass shooting, the mainstream media and different political factions always want to find someone to blame. The recent shootings at a naval base in D.C. promoted the usual declarations when it was pretty evident that the shooter was simply mentally unstable. So, instead of accusing our society of having a problem, why not just fix the issue of letting mentally unstable people not only have access to guns, but have unfettered freedom? |
