Happy Birthday Mom! My mother would have been 95 this past March 4th, 2013. She and my dad have both been gone several years now. This video – taken by their crypts – is my off-the-cuff reflections about them and thoughts on how to treat YOUR loved ones while they’re still with you. I had no script. This is real life and real emotions. Have your tissues handy!
Winter Time Workouts at #DadChat with @SmashFitDo we get lazy with our winter time workouts? Does inclement weather discourage you? Exercise and workouts must be a year-round habit. For me, as you can see above, I love to ski but that is limited as far as its frequency. We will discuss both exercise, workouts, diet and more with Heather Frey aka @SmashFit, this Thursday, March 7 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. PT/9:00 – 10:00 p.m. ET. Heather will also chat about her Change Challenge, which she presented on The Ricki Lake Show. Dress for this chat is “workout casual.” Rock n Roll: The Cure for What Ails You and the Key to Knowing Your KidsI know a lot about Rock n Roll, but my range in other music is limited. A new friend who is completely into Hip Hop and Rap has introduced me to such artists as Kanye West, Drake, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj, Jay Z, and others whose names I’d heard but whose music was alien to me. Other than many of the lyrical choices, which I find demeaning to both men and women, I was surprised how creative and good much of the music really was! The Evolution of Technology: AM Radio — Top 40 ListsSkiing and Coffee ARE Real LifeThursday, February 28, 2013 Featured guests: Snowboard and Ski-Cross Racers Langely McNeal, and Steve Pastorino from Canyons Resort. Pastor Drew Sams for “Spiritual Rap” Special Guest, Dr. Jennifer Weberman (The Parenting Playground) for “The Women’s Room.” This show is based on this “A Dad’s Point-of-View” column Cup of Coffee: It Really Is About Communication. Let’s discuss real life. Three Years as Radio Talk Show HostI’ve been a radio talk show host of my very own show for nearly three years. It’s been a wonderful experience. A friend was in studio with me and used my iPhone to video some of my talking and here are some short clips. I think they really represent my show and me pretty darn well. What do you think? Patience at #DadChatI hope you can wait until this Thursday, February 28 at 6:00 p.m. PT/9:00 p.m. ET when we take on the complicated issue of “Patience.” Since this is #DadChat, we are going to approach it largely from a parenting point-of-view. When should we be patient with our kids? Is there ever a time we should be impatient? We are pleased to have Andy Holloman as our co-host for this evening’s #DadChat Cup of Coffee: It Really is About CommunicationWhen I grew up there were coffee shops, not places that more or less exclusively served coffee and snacks. Coffee shops were diners and casual restaurants, which often had counters with stools for individuals. There was a local chain of them in our area that my family loved to frequent. Now, it’s fast food and Starbuck’s. But does a cup of coffee mean communication or just a cup ‘o joe while surfing the web, sitting alone, and isolated? Is it just the older retired people who actually meet at the local coffee spot to talk and people watch? |
